Saint Marie Amont The Hurons is set up like a little village.  It's very educational with introductory video showing the history of Sainte-Marie among the Hurons; a museuem showcasing the rich history and culture; and a chance to actually walk through the same land showcasing how were the houses and building structures looked like and how the people lived back then in 1600's. And is 13 minutes from the house

Discovery Harbour

Discovery Harbour I didn't even know existed until I went by on a boat cruise once.  Definitely good for kids and history buffs, but also good just to see what it was like 200 years ago with all of the boats and ships in the museum type setting. Well run, clean, nice staff, and the scenery is beautiful.  They do lots of fun Halloween stuff there as well depending on of course the time of year and it is 26 minutes.

There are many boat tours that leave from Midland.

Namely:

Georgian Spirit Cruises
Landmark Cruises
And Midland Harbour

There are over 30,000 islands in the area so many decide to tour around and see first hand.

Getting Around

If you walk out the front door of the house and turn right. Pass two homes, turn right again, then pass another home and right again.  Then pass the church and turn right again (yes it's a lot of rights) that takes you to the paved bike path that goes from Coldwater to Midland. Bring your rollerblades or bike or cross country ski in the winter, or snow shoe (snowshoes included).

Right when you get off the hwy there's a restaurant ish there but fast food. Think fries, hot dogs, nachos, funnel cakes. They also have ice cream in the convenience store, fudge etc.

Also right when you get off the hwy there is a gas station, Tim Hortons and LCBO for those last minute grabs.

Foodland for groceries in Victoria Harbour is 10 minutes.

Foodland in Coldwater is 11 minutes.

Walmart Supercentre in Midland is 17 minutes.

Bubba's Pizza

Only 8 minutes from the house, Bubba’s Pizza serves up pizza, wings, poutine, sandwiches, cheeseburgers, chicken burgers, and chicken souvlaki. While it may have more of a diner or hole-in-the-wall vibe rather than a picturesque setting, it’s perfect if you’re craving casual eats.

The Queen's Quay British Pub and Restaurant

Located right by the marina and just 11 minutes from the house, this British pub offers soups, stews, salads, burgers, lamb, fish, curry, and more. They’re also licensed, so you can enjoy a cocktail or craft beer with your meal.

Em's

Also in Coldwater there is a little cafe called Em's and if you like IG posts they often (depending on the time I'd the year have umbrellas with fishing wire in-between them and the neighbors making a nice sky visual for photos. They have sandwiches, soups, cookies, squares, coffee and espressos.

The Grill

There is also a restaurant on the water called The Grill 10 minutes north of the home.  People often like to watch the boats in the summer while they enjoy a cold beer, wings, burger, ribs, pizza etc.
